I suppose there were so many people who were shocked by the turn of events in the newest season of Grey’s Anatomy. This show has always been known as a chick flick. It is not so much about medicine as it is about female doctors and nurses having crushes on hot male doctors.

There has been a recent scramble in the blogosphere in these past days about the shocking news that Patrick Dempsey is leaving the show. One could only imagine the outrage that this would cause if it were actually true. All the female fans of the show would organize themselves. They will go to the streets shouting with banners of Patrick Dempsey’s pretty boy face and torches and pitch forks. Then they will storm the gates of ABC studios demanding for justice.

But fans can put their torches out and keep their pitchforks back in the barn. Patrick Dempsey is not leaving the show. I for one was not surprised. All this commotion was caused just because of a single line in the description of the episode of Grey’s Anatomy set to be aired on March twelve which basically says that Dempsey’s character, Derek, is going to quite because he learned that most of the patients he has treated have died instead of recovered. It also adds that Meredith refuses to give up on him.

Apparently, the fans did not notice that last line. If they did, they would’ve known that this is just a new story plot for Mc Dreamy. Also, if the ABC network would bring out that kind of information to the press, then the chances are, you would also see that information broadcasted in television and magazines such as TV guide. But you don’t. You only see it in the net. And you just have to admit that the World Wide Web is prone to paranoid delusions because rumors are circulated at the speed of, well whatever speed your internet connection is. Plus, whatever generates hits is copied and spread everywhere. Whether it’s true or not is a non issue.

The other reason why I knew this was not the sign that I felt like it was what Mc Dreamy character will inevitably falls into. That is, considering the last operation he did where the pregnant patient did not survive, this was how things were supposed to turn up. Also, it would be a very refreshing twist to see Meredith be the one to help Mc Dreamy instead of the other way around again.

The chances of Dempsey leaving the show are slim if not non existent. The plot feels like there will be an Emmy Award targeted drama episode later on Grey’s Anatomy in the works for Dempsey.

The Eleventh Hour is a television show that features the exploits of Dr. Hood, a super intelligent investigator that works for the government for "special cases." And by special cases, I mean those that would probably fall into agent Mulder and agent Scully’s hands if they were real people. However, there are no paranormal events here. They do border seem to be in the borders of the normal due to their bizarre nature. Science becomes the main focus of this show, it is the star. You have to follow the scientific goings on in the show in order to be able to appreciate it at all. The original show was created in Britain. The cast was Patrick Stewart as Dr. Ian Hood and his assistant and body guard Ms. Rachel Young played Ashley Jensen. Now these two were replaced by Rufus Sewell and Marley Shelton. Now which of them plays their roles better? Which actor works in the part and which actor struggles? Let see after a comparing the two sets of actor.

Dr. Hood
First off, let’s put Dr. Hood under the magnifying glass. When he was first played by Patrick Stewart, his idiosyncrasies were quite apparent. For me, Stewart succeeds in creating the necessary elements in the character that shall we say are idiosyncratic mannerisms that make the character closer, whole, and more believable. On the other hand, Patrick is quite old. American television consumerism, (according to Jerry Bruckheimer anyway) will only eat up a show if the lead is good looking, and by good looking, I mean hot. So they put in Sewell. And Sewell doesn’t do a bad job either. There’s this dark Irish bad boy thing going on along with the super intelligent to the point of creepiness prick that is a staple in Hood’s character. I’d say though that the veteran Stewart puts something in the table that Sewell doesn’t, an air of credibility for his character’s great wisdom.

Hood’s female body guard whom he explains everything to was played with much spunk and character by Ashley Jensen. Marley Shelton comes across as a little flat to me. But then she suddenly engages in hot quickies. Okay, so that’s all good then. No more complaints. Besides, the hot body guard chemistry really, really works. I mean, come on, let’s all stop pretending that we aren’t that shallow. Sex sell, and in this case, it seems as appropriate as the sexual tension between Mulder and Scully.

Some has called it the Sarah Palin of shows, because it’s an eye candy that seems to be as empty headed as it is cute. This will be without a doubt another one of those teen idol making machines. All the Stars here, just as in the original series, are young, new, fresh, good looking. The only question that is left to be answered in time is whether they will actually have break through careers. From What I can tell, the series is off to a pretty slow start. It’s as corny as the original and unfortunately, that’s already been played out so many times before that audiences might not be able to respond very well to this.

The first episode of the original Beverly Hills 90210 TV show was not organic. It just creates many possible conflicts and story lines so that it can give viewers many things to choose from. They’ll just play up the one factor (actor and story line) which is most loved by the fans. So that’s just how the pop machine operates. It’s quite lacking of any substance. But as it goes on, maybe we’ll see at least something juicy.

Here’s the new basic plot. It’s basically about the Wilson family, a family from little old Kansas who moves into big ole Beverly Hills. It is headed by the dad played by Rob Estes and the mom played by Lori Loghlin. Then there is of course the daughter played by Shenae Grimes from the hit teen show Degrassi the next generation. But then all she ever does is to squint her eyes whenever she’s feeling any emotion whatsoever, whether it is sadness, anger, cluelessness, or even joy. There’s also the son who turns out to be an adopted son. This is played by Tristan Wilds. That’s a given in most soap operas and it is a given here in the new 90210 TV show rife with clichés.

Because of their Grandmother who owns some property in the golden Beverly Hills district, the family moves in to their new home and lifestyle. The grandmother is a drunken mess and a diva of course. Then at there is the school that Annie moves into. There is of course a cute guy there who she hates and whom she had met a few days back. And the guy was getting blown in the parking lot. I suppose this is the attempt of the 90210 TV show to be edgy and mature in content for a great shock effect.

The movie opens at the New Jersey State Police Academy in the autumn of 2008. Paul Blart (Kevin James), a single father, tries out to be a cop. He does surprisingly well on the obstacle course despite his size, but passes out due to hypoglycemia, and fails the course.He lives with his mother and daughter, who tries to find him a girlfriend on a dating website, as his wife had previously left him, and he had been feeling lonely ever since.
He tries to make ends meet as a security officer at West Orange Pavilion Mall. He takes the job very seriously, but receives no respect from the patrons. The next day, Blart is introduced to a new trainee named Veck Sims. Blart takes him on a tour of the mall, teaching him the basics. While patrolling the mall, Blart sees - and falls for - a kiosk owner, Amy. After a few attempts to muster up courage, Blart tries to talk to Amy, but awkwardly asks for hair products instead. Upon their second “meeting”, Blart offers to give Amy a ride to her car on his Segway, and they agree to meet later in a bar where the mall staff are regular patrons. Unfortunately, Blart accidentally gets drunk, and humiliates himself in front of everybody present. Thinking he has ruined his chances with Amy, Blart returns home in low spirits. Later, Blart’s co-worker offers him his daughter’s phone so Blart could call Amy.

On Black Friday, a group of robbers disguised as Santa’s helpers “seize the mall” while Blart is inside the arcade playing Rock Band. While in the arcade, a foreign teen named Pahud calls the cell phone looking for the co-worker’s daughter. Pahud believes Blart is her lover but he explains that he is only borrowing the phone and gives the boy positive advice (basically to just relax about this girl). Pahud begins to admire Blart and they become quick friends. The robbers chase most of the shoppers and staff outside. However, some of the mall staff, including Amy, are taken hostage inside the mall’s bank. Veck reveals himself to be the ringleader, and intends to steal thirty million dollars from the mall by obtaining the codes to the mall’s credit card machines.

The West Orange Police, led by Sgt. Howard, surround the mall, but are unsure of the actual conditions inside. Meanwhile, Blart realizes that the mall has been taken over, and he makes contact with Sgt. Howard. However, the moment he finds out Amy is among the hostages, Blart resolves to take the matter in his own hands. He begins incapacitating the robbers one-by-one, and recording the stolen credit card codes. Outside, SWAT Commander Kent arrives to take control over the operation, and he ultimately dismisses Blart’s actions; Also he has known Blart as Kent has been cruel to him since in high school. He shows that he is much more willing than Sgt. Howard to raid the mall, regardless of the hostages’ safety. While Blart is busy fighting the robbers, his daughter, Maya, arrives at the mall to deliver his dinner, but she is quickly taken hostage by Veck. She then meets Amy, and tells her how Blart really feels about her.

Finally, Blart manages to incapacitate all of Veck’s henchmen, but Veck discovers Maya’s identity, and he tries to force Blart to give him the codes in exchange for her life. Instead, Blart distracts Veck with a mannequin, and tries to free the hostages, but fails. He is forced to give Veck the codes, and Veck escapes the mall with Amy and Maya in tow. Blart follows them, with Commander Kent finally on his side. Blart finds out that Veck is headed to a nearby airport, and ambushes him there, successfully restraining him. However, Commander Kent then attempts to kill Blart and points a gun at his head, and reveals that he was working with Veck the entire time. Fortunately, Sgt. Howard had followed them, and quickly arrests Commander Kent after Blart’s boss, Chief Brooks shoots the gun out of Kent’s hand. Blart and Amy are re-united and Blart admits his feelings for her and she kisses him. Howard offers to let Blart become a full-fledged police officer. Blart steadfastly refuses, saying that his place is helping people in his mall. During the end credits, bonus scenes show Blart and Amy getting married in the mall with all of their co-workers and friends there, including Pahud.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop Movie Review - Production

The film began shooting in late February 2008 in Boston. Principal shooting took place at the Burlington Mall in Burlington, Massachusetts after being denied a permit from Willowbrook Mall (Wayne, New Jersey). From late February until mid-April, the mall and its stores were decorated with Christmas decorations, and there was a large prop ball-pit in the main foyer of the mall near the Sears branch, and a Santa’s Village at the opposite end near the Macy’s branch in the same place that the mall usually puts its own Santa’s Village. Signs were placed throughout the mall explaining that this was for filming a movie, in order not to confuse the guests. Interior filming took place mostly at night. The South Shore Plaza in Braintree, Massachusetts was the location of subsequent shooting.

The titular cop is played by Kevin James with Keir O’Donnell as his opponent. Ugly Betty recurring star Jayma Mays plays James’ love interest.The film is directed by Steve Carr.

Will Heroes Triumph?

America’s love affair with the unknown and make believe world has been a long one. We’ve seen the television make everything look possible and incredible at the same time. The pet-belief though has to be the existence of aliens and the supernatural. A good many producers have cashed in on this penchant. Tim Kring was no different when he nurtured the idea of the once hit series Heroes. Despite its inclination towards science fiction, the TV series creator can bravely claim that his program isn’t anything to do with the usual concepts.

And very rightly so. Heroes has been quite atypical to say the least. The concept, though a merger between sci-fi and supernatural, is not what you’ve seen from past works in these genres. The story draws inspiration from some kind of unique mythology as well. The concept, in a nutshell, is about ordinary people gifted with extraordinary abilities to stop disasters around the world.

Not surprisingly, Heroes struck gold with its first season, what with the audience starving for a sci-fi series since Star Trek. Kring saw his creation rake plenty of awards and receive the highest rating for an NBC drama series in five years. Then the web world beckoned, where the series went online on Internet TV, along with wireless iTV interactivity, and graphic novels made available for mobile viewing in addition to the webisodes.

But that’s where the good news for the makers ended. The auspicious start to the series just seemed like a one time stroke of luck. The series began spiraling downhill right in the middle of season two. The biggest impact came from the 100-day strike from the Writers Guild of America, which saw the 24-episode season trimmed by less than half the number. Fans expected at least the third season to be an exhilarating one, compensating for the loss of the previous season.

Too bad, the audience was left craving for more from the third season as well. Complaints poured in that there was nothing different on offer from the previous two seasons. Amidst speculations of the series getting cancelled, Kring has made a desperate pledge to simplify the series to bring audience interest back. It’s a wait and watch game for the makers and fans alike.

Supernatural Season 4 (Update)

Supernatural is really kicking it this season. For those who are not aware of where the story is right now, let’s have a recap. (Spoiler alert for those who wants to watch the past episodes of the show)

The two brothers have traveled all throughout the country to look for their lost father and to find answers regarding the disturbing and mysterious occurrences that surround their mother’s untimely death. In the process, they encounter demons and other mystical entities. They finally find their father and all the answers they are looking for are finally found. Finally, the two brothers are able to find their father and kill the demon that killed their mother. But then the brothers get into more trouble. Sam goes to hell after selling his soul to save his brother’s life. Then wakes up dazed and confused in season 4 after an angel named Castiel saves him from hell.

Now, let’s go back to the current supernatural season 4 episode. Does anyone else notice that even though the two brothers had already planned the whole thing, which was that they would let the angels and the demons fight each other without their interruption, Dean still goes on ahead and saves the angel Castiel? They have already said that Mothra and Godzilla should just fight and that they should just watch it from the pulpits. But by some reason (a lot of people are already hypothesizing homo-erotic reasons here) Dean just couldn’t help himself; he had to save his angel (how very sweet).

In any case, I personally opine that Dean would have saved Cas in any event. Even if he did not know that Castiel was trying to stay away from Dean because he was his “weakness”. When Dean found this out, his opinion of Cas was dramatically altered. I also doubted that he would mean so much to Dean.

This critic would like to comment on the storyline of Anna being jealous of the angel. Although, given that they have already written that in the script, more fans as well as this writer would really love it if Castiel the angel would have a bit more human emotion. I suppose the wall between the two characters is still apparent. In the last couple of episodes, there have been more conflicts sparked from these close relations.

In all honesty, I think that what Anna’s going through is not really a simple jealousy issue. What I saw there is more of confusion or curiosity. The angel is not aware or has not experienced emotion and will probably never will. He’s probably investigating the bond between Dean and Anna since he can’t figure out human emotion for himself. I think these emotions make him feel disconcerted and disquieted, probably because of the shame when he realized he was intruding.

Naan Kadavul Movie (Preview)

The movie Naan Kadavul is about a boy (Arya), who gets thrown out of his house due to his arrogant father's superstitious beliefs. He gets frustrated and goes to Vaaranasi, where lives with the Saadhu's there and becomes a long haired bearded person. His father later realizes his mistakes and wants his son back. He goes in search of his son and is totally shocked to find him in that state. The rest of the movie revolves around what happens when he bring him back to TamilNadu and some incidents that happen in Vaaranasi. Actress Pooja plays the female lead in this movie. She has said that this role would make everyone take notice of her acting talent.

There are whole lot of newcomers in the star casts that includes Rajendran, a popular stunt artiste, director Singampuli, producer Azhagam Thamizhmani, an eunuch Keerthana and a physically challenged singer Kovai Krishnamurthy.
Jaya Mohan famous composer of Tamil literary work has penned the dialogues for this movie. The entire star cast has dubbed in their own voice in order to be eligible for the National awards.
A total of 450 actors form a part of this film and this includes several handicapped children. Over 48 physically challenged persons, who know nothing about cinema had been to Chennai to dub in their own voice. A team of doctors attended them in case of emergency during the shoot. This is the first time a director in India has made such an effort and for this he was felicitated on World Handicapped Day.
Lyricist Vaali has written the lyrics for this film and the great legend Maestro Illayaraja has composed the music for this film. The film is to be released on February 6th 2009 and the whole of South Indian film fraternity is awaiting its release!

And don’t get us started on the Sonar Map… waste of time.

Lara’s newfound gymnastic skills lead to fiddly control requirements that’ll have seasoned gamers blowing away mental cobwebs while casual players might quietly weep during some sections. You’re required to master leaping between narrow wall spaces and jumping across awkward angles, even backwards, very early in the game. When it works, it’s wonderful. When you miss even the slightest foothold it is agony.

Combat is sadly perfunctory at best. Lara can – very impressively – back-flip and cartwheel around while maintaining a steady aim on her aggressors. It makes battles versus tigers and panthers or zombie Vikings look dramatic but all rather random. Occasionally you might use the new adrenaline moves to deal more damage and take more careful aim, but usually all that’s required is to keep moving. Smaller enemies such as spiders and bats are obviously just thrown in to keep Lara busy for a while, brushing them off or just blasting them from a distance. Larger enemies are really a bit stupid – they’ll get trapped making them sitting ducks.

And yet Tomb Raider Underworld is utterly compelling. Once you’ve solved the first two bumper puzzles, after convincing yourself that they’re either impossible or the game itself must be broken, the game becomes impossible to put down. Underworld is visually stupendous with its colossal statues and foreboding catacombs. On the whole it’s a match for Drake’s Fortune on PlayStation 3, last year’s unsung Christmas blockbuster. The latter was balanced in favour of combat, whereas Underworld naturally upholds its essential tomb raiding element. Apart from Tomb Raider Legend and Anniversary there remains nothing else quite like it on Xbox 360.
